Starr
Pickens a dynamic poet, performance artist and second time author, Starr
the name given to her at birth has all the makings of a super nova.
Starr a New York native brought in the new millennium with her second
book in the series entitled The nakedness of a poet which is a raw open
examination of her life. The success of this hard hitting and relevant
book has brought her on stage with the Sundance film festival actor and
poet Saul William. She has competed in the Grand Manier slam, The Motown
slam and a winner of the Jomandi productions slam. Her poetic talents
were used during the Black Independent Film Groove and the Atlanta Jazz
Festival as a featured performer. Her melodic voice graced the VIBE
SESSIONS spoken word c.d. which can be found through out Atlanta. Not
just a poet but a spoken word artist she is a major contender and
influence in the underground spoken word movement in Atlanta. On the up
rise Starr has much more poetry to come. Be on the look out for THIER
